How-To Choose a Gift
Different occasions, budgets and tastes demand different gifts.
Regardless of what type of gift you are buying, a few basic suggestions
can make shopping much more pleasant.
Buying tomorrow’s heirloom
The most important element of a well-chosen gift is quality. You
may want to choose a gift that will last for decades and might
be passed on to future generations. If so, you will want to give
consideration to products from some of the companies that have
been around for many years.
The largest manufacturer of handmade colored glass in the United
States has been in existence since 1905, creating handmade glass
artistry that is loved by collectors around the world. They produce
a wide variety of items – vases, baskets, lamps, etc. – and
are known for their beautiful colors and patterns.
Buying a collectible
The person for whom you are buying may be a collector. If so, your
search for the perfect gift may not be so difficult.
The recipient you have in mind may collect something in a general
category – angels, Santas, bears, frogs, roosters, etc.
There are several different brands of lighted ceramic and porcelain
houses on the market.
Sweet Seasons keeps records of collector's purchases so you will
not duplicate something in his or her collection. If you were to
duplicate something already in their collection, the recipient
would be able to exchange it for other merchandise at Sweet Seasons.
Buying specialty foods
One who receives specialty foods will love the chance to indulge
their taste buds. Whether it is simmering soups or iced tea, yummy
fruit dips or BBQ sauces, aromatic coffees or hot mustards, easy
to prepare gourmet foods are always a tasteful gift.
Buying for one’s sense of humor
It can be loads of fun to buy a gift for a person who has a good
sense of humor. Great whimsical figurines, vases or money jars
are always fun.
It’s difficult
to buy a gift for some people
Let’s say you have to buy a wedding gift when you aren’t familiar
with the taste of the bride. What to do?
Decorating for the holidays is more apt to be eclectic, and by giving Christmas
decor, you are not sticking the bride with a 12-month decorating problem.
Or let’s say you need to buy a gift for a “person who has everything.” What
do you do? You may want to consider a gift basket of food items that might include
gourmet barbecue sauce, specialty coffees and teas, candies and cookies. Or maybe
a gift box of personal care products, including lotions and soaps.
Of course, a gift certificate is always a good answer to any difficult gift-giving
situation. Please contact me regarding a gift certificate.

Giving the gift
After choosing your gift, pay attention to presentation. Wrap the gift
beautifully. Include a warm note expressing your affection for the
recipient and perhaps a bit about why you chose the gift you did.
As a service, some stores may offer UPS mailing service, saving the
customer the hassle of wrapping, packing and shipping the gifts purchased
at the store. |
